Meet Atlanta’s New Nightlife Ambassadors

If you’re out in Downtown, Castleberry Hill, Edgewood Avenue or near Centennial Olympic Park on a busy weekend night, you may notice a new group helping keep Atlanta’s entertainment districts running smoothly.

The City of Atlanta’s Nightlife Ambassadors are trained staff who serve as extra eyes and ears in some of the city’s busiest nightlife areas. Their job is simple: help people, support businesses and be a visible presence when something doesn’t look right.

Starting in the evening hours, ambassadors patrol on foot throughout designated nightlife districts, checking in with businesses, assisting visitors and helping connect people with city services when needed.

Silence the Shame's mission is to empower and educate communities on mental health and wellness.

What Nightlife Ambassadors Do

Think of them as part hospitality team, part neighborhood resource.

Ambassadors can:

  • Help visitors find restaurants, venues and attractions
  • Answer questions and provide directions
  • Assist with 311 and 911 calls when needed
  • Report issues they see in real time
  • Check in with businesses throughout the night
  • Help people get safely to their vehicles
  • Assist with minor issues such as dead batteries or vehicle lockouts
  • Serve as an additional set of eyes and ears for the City and public safety partners

Supporting Atlanta After Dark

The ambassadors are not police officers. Instead, they provide a friendly, visible presence that can help address concerns before they become bigger issues.

The program is designed to improve communication between businesses, residents, visitors and the City while helping make Atlanta’s entertainment districts feel safer and more welcoming.

The first phase of the program focuses on Downtown, Castleberry Hill, Peter Street, Centennial Olympic Park and the Edgewood Avenue area, with future expansion planned for Buckhead, Midtown and portions of the Atlanta Beltline.

Whether you’re heading to dinner, a concert, a sporting event or simply enjoying a night out, the goal is straightforward: make sure everyone has someone nearby they can turn to for help.
