Thousands of people are expected across the city for Atlanta Pride, SpelHouse Homecoming and other community events. The City is working with the National Weather Service, public safety agencies and event organizers to monitor conditions and prepare for possible impacts.
Mayor’s 5K on the Runway Postponed
The annual Mayor’s 5K on the Runway, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, has been postponed due to expected inclement weather.

Planning to Attend an Event This Weekend?
Weather conditions can change quickly, so residents and visitors are encouraged to check forecasts and confirm event details with organizers before heading out.
The City will continue coordinating with event partners and sharing updates as needed.
A Few Simple Ways to Stay Safe
Whether you’re heading to an event or spending the weekend at home, a little preparation can make a difference.
- Stay weather-aware. Monitor local forecasts and have more than one way to receive emergency alerts.
- Get your home ready. Charge phones, secure loose outdoor items and keep medications and essential supplies nearby.
- Avoid flooded roads. Never drive or walk through floodwater. Turn around and find another route.
- Know when to head indoors. If severe weather approaches, seek shelter in a sturdy building and stay away from windows.
- Don’t forget your pets. Bring them indoors and make sure they have food, water and updated identification.
