As FIFA World Cup 2026™ excitement continues to build, the City of Atlanta is encouraging residents and visitors to plan ahead, stay hydrated and prepare for hot summer temperatures as another busy match day arrives on Wednesday, July 1.
With large crowds expected downtown for both the match at Atlanta’s Stadium and FIFA Fan Festival™ at Centennial Olympic Park, City departments, public safety personnel and event partners will be working throughout the day to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Free General Admission registrations for the remaining FIFA Fan Festival dates have been claimed. Fans planning to attend Fan Festival should confirm they have the appropriate ticket before heading downtown, as General Admission registration is required for entry. GA+ and VIP packages remain available for purchase while supplies last.
Whether attending the match, visiting Fan Festival or enjoying the atmosphere throughout Downtown Atlanta, a little planning can help make the day safer and more enjoyable.
Know Before You Go
Before leaving home, fans are encouraged to:
- Confirm they have a valid Fan Festival ticket before traveling downtown.
- Arrive early and allow extra time for travel and security screening.
- Dress for the weather and stay hydrated throughout the day.
- Review the official Fan Festival map and identify the correct entrance for their ticket type.
- Use MARTA when possible or plan parking in advance.
- Check Navigate Atlanta for the latest road closures, traffic impacts and travel information before heading downtown.
Stay Safe in the Summer Heat
With temperatures expected to climb into the 90s, staying hydrated should be a priority throughout the day. Fans are encouraged to drink water regularly, take breaks as needed and locate water stations and First Aid areas upon arrival. If you or someone around you begins experiencing signs of heat-related illness, notify the nearest event staff member or public safety official immediately.
Downtown Atlanta Is Ready to Welcome Fans
Even if you’re not attending FIFA Fan Festival, Downtown Atlanta will be buzzing with restaurants, attractions, public spaces and Showcase Atlanta activations welcoming visitors throughout the tournament. Fans are encouraged to support local businesses while experiencing the city’s vibrant World Cup atmosphere.
The excitement will conclude on July 19 with A Celebration of Sound & Soccer at Piedmont Park—a free festival featuring a live screening of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final and a headline performance by Atlanta’s own Ludacris, along with other local artists in a festival produced by ONE Musicfest.
