n honor of Immigrant Heritage Month and in celebration of diverse coffee traditions, the Mayor’s Office of International & Immigrant Affairs hosted an Around the World Coffee Hour at Atlanta City Hall. This warm celebration of how immigrant communities have shaped the culture and character of Atlanta told the story of coffee across continents.
The coffee hour welcomed City of Atlanta employees, community partners, and immigrant-owned businesses for an afternoon of cultural exchange, conversation, and connection. The event was held in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office’s Global Ambassador Certificate Ceremony, weaving together two of Welcoming Atlanta’s commitments: preparing city employees to serve diverse communities and uplifting immigrant voices.
Four immigrant-owned coffee vendors anchored the program, each offering tastings that reflected their country and culture of origin, representing India, Mexico, Syria, and Turkey. The vendors provided not only delicious coffee samples, but a window into the diverse traditions, flavors, and stories that immigrants share with Atlanta every day.
The space was also filled with artwork created by youth in LaAmistad’s art program, as young artists reflected on their own immigrant heritage and identities. Their work served as a powerful reminder of why this month matters, particularly for the next generation.
“Coffee unites us across cultures, borders, and language, and we are excited to showcase how coffee is expressed through traditions from around the world,” said Paulina Guzman, Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of International & Immigrant Affairs.
Immigrant Heritage Month offers an annual opportunity to honor the contributions of immigrants who have raised families and strengthened communities across Atlanta. This year’s Around the World Coffee Hour brought that celebration to City Hall!
