Atlanta City Council has approved $250,000 to support the West Hollowell Foundation, a neighborhood organization being built to serve Brookwood Hills, formerly Bowen Homes, Almond Park and Carey Park.
For residents, the funding means more local support to help connect the community with the people, programs and resources involved in the area’s growth.
A Local Partner for Residents
The West Hollowell Foundation will work with residents and public, private and nonprofit partners on issues including housing, education, health and wellness, and economic opportunity.
The $250,000 will help the organization continue to grow, supporting staffing, operations and programming.
The Grove Park Foundation will serve as fiscal agent for the West Hollowell Foundation as the organization builds its capacity.
Part of a Larger Investment in West Hollowell
The funding is part of Atlanta’s Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative, or NRI, which focuses resources on neighborhoods that have experienced years of underinvestment.
In West Hollowell, that means looking at more than new development. The City wants residents who already call these neighborhoods home to have access to opportunities as the area grows.
The West Hollowell Foundation will help by working with residents, building partnerships and coordinating programs and resources around neighborhood needs.
The $250,000 investment gives that work additional support as West Hollowell continues to grow and change.
