Families in Southwest Atlanta now have a safer and more inviting place to play, exercise, and gather following upgrades completed at Stone Hogan Park.
The improvements include a new playground, outdoor fitness equipment, improved lighting and accessibility features, and parking upgrades designed to make everyday visits easier and more comfortable for residents.
What’s new at Stone Hogan Park
The project focused on improvements residents will notice right away, including:
- A custom playground with animal stepping stones for children
- Refurbished pavilion space for gatherings and shade
- New outdoor exercise equipment
- Resurfaced parking with a new gate and safety bollards
- Updated park signage
- Sidewalk upgrades and ADA access improvements
- Lighting and security cameras to support safer visits
Together, these changes make the park easier to use for families, seniors, and neighbors who rely on nearby greenspace for recreation and wellness.
Why neighborhood park upgrades matter
Across Atlanta, more than 80% of residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park—but continued investment helps ensure those parks feel welcoming, active, and safe.
Mayor Andre Dickens said the upgrades reflect community input and the city’s commitment to strengthening neighborhood spaces across Atlanta.
“We’ve been very intentional about how we invest in parks across this city—using data to identify where the need is greatest and making sure we close those gaps,” he said.
Part of continued investment in Southwest Atlanta
The Stone Hogan Park improvements were supported through the Improving Neighborhood Outcomes in Disproportionately Impacted Communities grant and aligned with broader investments through the Moving Atlanta Forward bond program.
Projects like this help ensure residents in every part of the city have access to quality recreation spaces close to home.
