Atlanta is putting public service in the picture as City Hall Selfie Day returns Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The annual celebration, organized by Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL), invites cities and communities across the country to share photos from city halls and other government buildings while recognizing the people and places behind local government.
In Atlanta, City employees, residents and visitors are invited to join in by snapping a photo at Atlanta City Hall or another City location and sharing it on social media using #CityHallSelfieDay and tagging the City of Atlanta.
Putting Public Service in the Picture
Behind every City building are thousands of employees working every day to serve Atlanta — maintaining parks and streets, responding to emergencies, keeping neighborhoods clean, supporting residents and businesses, and delivering the services that keep the city moving.
City Hall Selfie Day offers a lighter way to recognize that work while giving Atlantans a chance to show some civic pride.
Last year, participating communities reached more than 6 million people on social media. Cities also have the opportunity to earn national recognition in categories including Most Creative Selfie, Best Community Engagement, Best Photography and People’s Choice.

Participating is simple:
- Snap a selfie at Atlanta City Hall or another City of Atlanta location.
- Post it on social media Tuesday, Aug. 11.
- Use #CityHallSelfieDay and tag the City of Atlanta.
- Invite your coworkers, friends and neighbors to join in.
