Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens signed a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with Atlanta firefighters Monday afternoon at the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, marking a major milestone for the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.

The signing happened ahead of the one-year anniversary of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center and included firefighter personnel along with representatives from firefighter unions, including IAFF Local 134 President Alvin Rashaud.

City leaders say the agreement reflects continued investment in firefighter personnel and public safety infrastructure across Atlanta neighborhoods as demand for emergency response services continues growing citywide.

“Today is a historic moment for the City of Atlanta and the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department. I am proud to sign the first Collective Bargaining Agreement alongside IAFF Local 134 President Alvin Rashaud,” said Mayor Dickens. “Our Administration has made historic investments in AFRD personnel and infrastructure — including new fire stations, new fire engines, upgraded equipment, housing for recruits, pay raises, and the opening of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center. That facility includes a new burn building, training fire station, driving course, and other 21st-century tools our firefighters deserve.”

In a letter shared with firefighter personnel ahead of the signing, the Mayor thanked firefighters for their “service and unwavering commitment to the City of Atlanta” and reiterated the administration’s commitment to firefighter safety, equipment, compensation, and long-term success.

The agreement comes as the City continues broader investments in public safety under the administration’s One Safe City strategy, including modernization efforts across training facilities, emergency equipment, and firefighter recruitment.
