City of Atlanta employees now have a new way to access healthcare while at work.
On Wednesday, Mayor Andre Dickens joined Chief Operating Officer LaChandra Burks, Department of Human Resources Commissioner Calvin Blackburn III, City leaders and partners from OnMed and Sharecare to celebrate the launch of two new OnMed CareStations at C.T. Martin Natatorium and the Department of Watershed Management Headquarters at 72 Marietta Street.
Available exclusively to City employees at no additional cost, the CareStations provide convenient access to primary and urgent care services through a live virtual visit with a licensed clinician.
Bringing Healthcare to the Workplace
The private CareStations are equipped with diagnostic tools including a digital stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, thermal scanner and high-definition camera, allowing employees to receive care for common illnesses, minor injuries, chronic conditions and other health concerns.
Services are available in more than 240 languages.
Mayor Dickens said the idea came after City leaders visited Tampa last year and saw similar stations helping connect people with healthcare more quickly and conveniently.
“We saw people receiving care without long waits,” Dickens said. “We saw modern technology helping remove barriers that often keep people from getting the care they need.”
Supporting City Employees
The Mayor said the initiative is about making healthcare more accessible for the employees who keep Atlanta running every day.
“The folks who maintain our roads. The folks who keep our water flowing. The folks who operate our facilities. The folks who serve Atlanta’s residents every single day,” Dickens said. “These CareStations give our employees another option to take better care of themselves and their families.”
COO Burks said the new locations build on the City’s ongoing commitment to employee wellness.
“Supporting employees isn’t separate from serving Atlanta’s residents,” Burks said. “The two go hand in hand.”
Built for the Future
The CareStations are part of Atlanta’s continued investment in innovative solutions that improve services and support employees.
“We’re one city with one bright future,” Mayor Dickens said. “A city that’s built for the future and continuing to find new ways to serve its people.”
The C.T. Martin location is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Watershed Management Headquarters location is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
