The “Atlanta Says NO MORE: Together We Can End Domestic Violence” campaign, launched in July 2024, has made a significant impact on reducing domestic violence-related homicides in the city. Through a combination of awareness, education, and collaborative community efforts, key metrics this February show measurable improvements in the fight against domestic violence.

Domestic Violence Homicide Statistics Pre & Post Campaign:

    Before the No More Campaign:

    • 16 domestic violence homicides
    • 64 total homicides YTD
    • 25% of homicides were DV-related
    • After the No More Campaign:
    • 10 domestic violence homicides
    • 62 total homicides YTD
    • 16% of homicides were DV-related

This reduction represents a 6-homicide decrease and a 9% drop in domestic violence-related deaths in just a few months following the campaign’s launch. The percentage of domestic violence homicides relative to total homicides also saw a substantial decline, dropping from 25% to 16%.

    Campaign Impact and Community Collaboration

The campaign’s success is attributed to extensive partnerships with local organizations, law enforcement, and key community figures. The Mayor’s Office of Violence Reduction (MOVR) has been instrumental in coordinating efforts, providing resources, and facilitating important discussions. Additionally, high-profile supporters from Atlanta’s entertainment industry, including Dallas Austin, Big Gipp, and Rasheeda, have helped amplify the campaign’s reach, allowing it to engage a broader audience and generate critical awareness.

Moving Forward: The Path to Continued Reduction

While these early results are promising, addressing domestic violence remains an
ongoing priority. The No More Campaign aims to sustain these positive trends through
continued community involvement and strategic interventions. The partnership between
public officials, advocacy groups, and residents is vital to ensuring that domestic
violence incidents continue to decline and that survivors have access to necessary
    resources.
