A New Grocery Option Opens at Pittsburgh Yards, Bringing Fresh Food and Innovation to Southwest Atlanta

The AI-powered market expands access to groceries while investing in a neighborhood that has long lacked convenient food options.

Just days after Pittsburgh Yards welcomed thousands of visitors during Atlanta BeltLine Fest, the focus shifted back to the neighborhood itself.

On Thursday, Mayor Andre Dickens joined community leaders to celebrate the opening of Nourish + Bloom Market at Pittsburgh Yards, bringing a new grocery option to residents in Pittsburgh and surrounding Southwest Atlanta neighborhoods.

The new location is the nation’s first 24/7 AI-powered, zero-checkout grocery store. Customers can shop for fresh food and everyday essentials at any time using technology that allows them to enter, shop and leave without waiting in a checkout line.

But city leaders said Thursday’s ribbon cutting was about more than technology.

Expanding Access to Fresh Food

For years, many families in the area have had to travel outside their neighborhoods to buy groceries. The new market helps close that gap by bringing fresh food closer to home.

“This weekend, we were right here at Pittsburgh Yards celebrating the Atlanta BeltLine Fest and welcoming visitors from around the world for FIFA,” Mayor Dickens said. “Today, we’re back here focused on the people who call this community home.”

He said creating opportunity means ensuring investment reaches every part of Atlanta—not just downtown or rapidly growing neighborhoods.

Since taking office, the Dickens Administration has expanded efforts to improve food access across the city, including supporting the opening of Azalea Fresh Market downtown, announcing a second location in southwest Atlanta and helping bring Nourish + Bloom to Cascade Road. The Pittsburgh Yards store continues that work.

“We don’t want your ZIP Code determining your access to opportunity,” the Mayor said.

Innovation Meets Community Investment

While the store’s artificial intelligence and autonomous shopping technology may grab headlines, city leaders emphasized that the biggest impact will be felt by residents who now have another convenient place to shop.

The market also reflects Atlanta’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation.

“This is what a city of opportunity for all looks like,” Mayor Dickens said. “A Black-owned, woman-founded, Atlanta-based company building something that all of Atlanta can be proud of.”

Building Stronger Neighborhoods

The opening also aligns with the City’s broader efforts to invest in neighborhoods through initiatives like the Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative, which focuses on bringing jobs, services, housing and economic opportunity to communities across Atlanta.

As Pittsburgh continues to grow, leaders say projects like Nourish + Bloom demonstrate that innovation and neighborhood investment can go hand in hand—creating healthier, more connected communities while ensuring longtime residents benefit from Atlanta’s progress.
