The Cascade Road resurfacing project is moving into its final phase, bringing long-awaited relief to southwest Atlanta residents and businesses. Over the weekend, Mayor Andre Dickens visited the site to inspect progress firsthand and meet with contractors, city officials, and local business owners.
The work has been more complex than a standard resurfacing effort. In addition to repaving, crews replaced decades-old sewer infrastructure that had never been addressed, resolving chronic flooding and runoff issues that caused hazards and sanitation concerns for nearby homes and businesses.
Business owners say the detours have been challenging, but they welcome the improvements and are encouraged by the Mayor’s direct involvement. City officials estimate that detours will be lifted within three weeks as final paving and clean-up are completed.
“This is my community, and I know how much this corridor means to southwest Atlanta,” said Mayor Dickens. “We are going to get this done—for residents, for businesses, and for the future of Cascade Heights.”
