The Wait Is Over
Atlanta, the night you’ve been waiting for is here. Midnight Basketball League—the city’s iconic late-night tradition—is officially back for Season 9, starting tonight, Tuesday, September 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the C.T. Martin Natatorium and Recreation Center.
Twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday, the courts will light up with high-energy matchups, local talent, and the sound of community coming together.
The Mayor’s Vision in Action
Midnight Basketball is especially close to Mayor Andre Dickens’ heart. Years ago, he helped launch the program as a way to give young people safe, structured activities during the hours they need it most. What began as an idea has grown into a citywide tradition—one that embodies his vision for a safer, stronger, and more connected Atlanta.
“The whole community is out enjoying Midnight Basketball,” Mayor Dickens said. “People are safe having a good time, learning conflict resolution and community building. I’m encouraged by it and I have to keep doing it over and over again.”
More Than Just Basketball
The league is about much more than who scores the most points. It’s a chance for young Atlantans to belong, to build friendships, and to channel their energy into something positive. Every season, the stands fill with families, neighbors, and mentors who show up to cheer for their community as much as for the teams.
With support from Atlanta Parks and Recreation and the Atlanta Police Athletic League, Midnight Basketball is a cornerstone of the city’s Year of the Youth initiative and a model for how sports can strengthen community safety and pride.

Registration is open for both men’s and women’s divisions. Players can sign up through the QR codes on the flyer or by contacting league organizers directly. Fans are encouraged to pack the stands and bring their energy.
