This past week, residents, families, and partners gathered at Grandma’s House in Dixie Hills for a day dedicated to safety, resilience, and community connection. The long-standing neighborhood organization has been a trusted resource for 15 years, routinely supporting about 75 young people and 50 households each month.

Impact at a Glance

  • 50 families served during the event
  • 75 youth engaged in safe-space activities
  • 25 volunteers and partners supporting delivery and outreach
  • 100 attendees total across the event window

Building Safe & Supportive Spaces

The event focused on creating welcoming and protective environments where youth could thrive. Activities encouraged safety and nonviolence while highlighting the collective role neighbors play in building stronger communities.

Why It Matters

By hosting this event, Grandma’s House and the Mayor’s Office of Violence Reduction (MOVR) demonstrated the power of community-driven solutions. When families, leaders, and neighbors come together, youth gain the support they need to imagine brighter, violence-free futures.
