On a clear Tuesday morning in southwest Atlanta, community members gathered at Gilgal Village to celebrate a meaningful step forward for women working to rebuild their lives. With a ribbon cutting and guided tours, partners marked the completion of two new modular stabilization homes designed to support women at the point where housing stability can make all the difference in recovery.
The new homes expand Gilgal Village’s campus on Mobile Avenue SW, adding short-term, non-medical housing for women transitioning out of homelessness and into early recovery. The setting was intentionally intimate with guests including nonprofit leaders, faith partners, volunteers, donors, and women connected to the program—reflecting the deeply personal impact of the work taking place on the site.
The ceremony included reflections from counselors and recovery advocates on how safe, stable housing creates space for healing, employment readiness, and long-term independence. Speakers emphasized that these homes are not just buildings, but starting points—places where women can pause, feel secure, and begin planning what comes next.
Mayor Andre Dickens joined the celebration to underscore the citywide importance of housing at moments of transition. He spoke about Atlanta’s broader commitment to pairing housing with supportive services, noting that stability is often the foundation that allows recovery and opportunity to take root. Across the city, similar approaches are helping residents move from crisis toward self-sufficiency.
For more than two decades, Gilgal, Inc. has served women whose struggles with addiction led to homelessness, offering a 12-month, Christ-centered recovery program focused on sobriety, job readiness, and permanent housing placement. With more than 980 women served over 20 years, the organization’s work has long centered on meeting women where they are and walking alongside them through change.
The addition of these modular homes strengthens that mission, increasing capacity at a critical moment of need and reinforcing Atlanta’s Opportunity for All pillar—advancing housing stability as a gateway to dignity, recovery, and a brighter future for every Atlantan.
