The Atlanta Beltline has purchased six parcels near the intersection of Peachtree Road NW and Bennett Street NW in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta along the Northwest Trail. This is the second major acquisition along Peachtree Road purchased by the Beltline with the first acquired last fall. The acquisition leaves the Beltline with a 3.2 acre assemblage that will not only accommodate the future Northwest Trail but also will allow the Beltline to advance its goal of creating affordable housing and commercial space directly on the Beltline in one of the most sought after areas of the city.

The Beltline will undertake an intensive planning and community engagement process for the site. This process will involve community leaders, residents, businesses and other stakeholders to ensure the redevelopment reflects the community’s needs and aspirations. The buildings on site, which are now vacant, will be prepared for demolition while future site planning efforts are underway.

In recent years, the Beltline has acquired over 80 acres of land to expand housing and commercial affordability along the trail and to master plan land along the trail. The Beltline currently is 76% of its way towards meeting the goal of preserving or creating 5,600 affordable housing units by 2030. Through this comprehensive affordability strategy, the Beltline is creating longer-term and deeper affordability for both commercial and residential spaces.

The recent parcel acquired by the Beltline is situated next to the three parcels acquired in November of last year, which were needed to complete Segment 2 of the Northwest Trail. Segment 2 begins at the southwest corner of the Bobby Jones Golf Course and extends 0.7 miles east along Colonial Hills Circle, and currently is in the final phase of real estate acquisitions. To the east of the property lies Segment 1 of the Northwest Trail, a 0.8-mile stretch that begins at the western edge of the Peachtree Park Apartments and follows Peachtree Creek southward. This segment is under construction and slated for completion in the second quarter of 2026.

To date, the Beltline has completed 12.6 miles of the mainline loop, with an additional 10.3 miles of connector trails. The entire 22-mile loop is projected to be completed by 2030 with nearly 18 miles expected to be finished in time to welcome residents and international visitors arriving for the FIFA World Cup™
