Atlanta Beltline Breaks Ground on the Highly Anticipated Enota Park

After 50 years without a central play space, the Westview neighborhood celebrates the groundbreaking of a vibrant, nearly 8-acre community park.

When J.C. Harris Elementary School closed in 1973, Westview residents lost more than a school—they lost the neighborhood’s only playground and field. After 50 years, that void is finally being filled. On April 22, the Atlanta Beltline broke ground on Enota Park, giving Southwest Atlanta families a central, walkable location to gather, play, and grow together once again.

Located in Westview and adjacent to the West End neighborhood, this long-awaited project transforms a modest 0.3-acre playlot into nearly 8 acres of activated park space, made possible through the acquisition of wooded, undeveloped land and nearby residential parcels from willing sellers.

Enota Park will provide gathering spaces for families and neighbors, improve health and wellness for all ages, and promote economic and community growth. It will also create a space for events, youth programs, sports, and outdoor learning.

Silence the Shame's mission is to empower and educate communities on mental health and wellness.

Upon completion, the park will include a large lawn, boardwalk, overlooks, a pavilion big enough to host performances, seating area, half-court basketball, splashpad, play area, security cameras, guard rails, retaining walls, and separate bathroom and utility buildings. The construction schedule is expected to take 18 months.

Enota Park is unique because the north, south, and middle parcel will all connect to the Westside Trail, allowing easy access for residents and students who attend KIPP Strive Academy across the street.

The funding for the project comes from public sources including the State of Georgia’s Improving Neighborhood Outcomes, TSPLOST Moving Atlanta Forward, the Atlanta Beltline Tax Allocation District, supported by Atlanta Public Schools (APS), Fulton County, and the City of Atlanta, and Beltline Special Service District investors, and the City of Atlanta Moving Atlanta Forward Infrastructure Bond and philanthropic support from corporate and foundation partners.

The philanthropic community has played an important role in bringing this project to life. More than a dozen corporate and foundation partners, including The Coca-Cola Foundation, A Friend of the Atlanta Beltline, Georgia Power Company, Truist Trusteed Foundations: Walter H. and Marjory M. Rich Memorial Fund & Thomas Guy Woolford Trust, Norfolk Southern, and The Fraser-Parker Foundation, have invested alongside the State Fiscal Recovery Fund to provide more than $6.7 million through the Advancing the Vision campaign.

Enota Park is scheduled for completion in Q3 of 2026.
