Hey Atlanta—did you know the City has a program that can make your home more energy-efficient, healthier, and less expensive to maintain?
It’s called WeatheRISE ATL, and it’s run by the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability and Resilience. Since its launch in 2024, the program has been working in neighborhoods with high energy bills to help owner-occupied, single-family homes get critical repairs, weatherization upgrades, and healthy-home improvements. The goal is simple: lower utility costs, improve safety, and keep residents comfortable year-round—while also building a skilled local energy workforce.
Back in April, WeatheRISE ATL received a major boost. Google donated $300,000 to help expand the program’s reach. With these funds, more than 100 households will see improvements like attic insulation, safer electrical systems, and repairs that make homes eligible for additional weatherization services.
The funding also supports:

Extra help for residents – Each participating household can receive $1,000 or more for critical repairs.

Workforce development – 15 residents will train in building science, HVAC, insulation installation, and more, with certifications, paid field hours, and safety gear included.

Small business growth – Local contractors can add upgraded technologies and hire from the program’s trainee pool.
Partners in Action for Healthy Living (PAHL) is leading outreach to ensure residents know about the benefits and can get connected. The result is healthier homes, lower bills, and new job opportunities in the energy sector.
