Families gathered to cheer together. Strangers became friends over a shared love of the game. Music filled our streets, local businesses welcomed new customers, and cultures from around the world were celebrated throughout the city. None of this happened by chance.
This success was made possible by countless partners who worked together behind the scenes, including public safety personnel, transportation teams, City employees, volunteers, local businesses, neighborhood organizations and community leaders. Their dedication ensured that residents and visitors alike could enjoy a safe, memorable and welcoming experience.
The celebration continued yesterday as Atlanta officially closed out the FIFA World Cup 2026™ with one final community watch party. More than 40,000 people gathered to watch the tournament final, celebrate an unforgettable month for the city and reflect on everything Atlanta accomplished as a host.
Mayor Andre Dickens thanked residents, partners, volunteers and visitors for making the tournament a success, celebrating the collective effort that made Atlanta’s FIFA World Cup journey such a remarkable success. The celebration featured performances by Pastor Troy and Ludacris, who surprised the crowd by bringing out fellow Atlanta music icon Young Jeezy, giving fans one final unforgettable moment and closing out the FIFA World Cup in true Atlanta fashion.
The FIFA World Cup 2026™ may be over, but the memories, friendships and pride created over these past weeks will last far beyond the final match. FIFA brought the world to Atlanta. Together, we reminded the world exactly who we are.
We made history and showed the world what it means to be a world-class host city.
We did it, Atlanta. Together!
