Atlanta residents are meeting employers, building resumes, and exploring new career paths this week at the Showcase Atlanta Workforce Expo, a two-day hiring and workforce development event designed to connect job seekers with opportunities across the city.
Hosted in partnership with the City of Atlanta’s Department of Labor and Employment Services and the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, the expo opened Thursday and continues today at 285 Andrew Young International Blvd NW, bringing together job seekers, employers, and workforce partners under one roof.
Mayor Andre Dickens visited the expo Thursday afternoon, meeting residents and employers while emphasizing the importance of making sure major events in Atlanta create real opportunities for local workers.
“This starts with the FIFA World Cup but will continue with other major events being hosted in Atlanta,” said Mayor Dickens. “The world may be coming to Atlanta, but we want you to be part of the moment too.”
Connecting Residents to Opportunity
The Showcase Atlanta Workforce Expo is designed to prepare Atlanta’s workforce for increased demand tied to large-scale events and continued economic growth.
More than 1,000 registered job seekers are expected to connect with over 100 employers, with opportunities ranging from full-time roles to seasonal positions supporting upcoming events and major venues.
Employers are recruiting for positions across several industries including:
- Hospitality
- Logistics
- Security
- Event operations
These fields will play a key role as Atlanta prepares to welcome global events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while also supporting the city’s broader workforce needs.
Tools to Help Residents Get Hired
Beyond connecting directly with employers, attendees also have access to career support services designed to help them stand out in the hiring process.
Participants can receive:
- Professional headshots
- Resume assistance
- LinkedIn profile support
- Interview preparation coaching
These tools help job seekers strengthen their professional presence and increase their chances of landing a job.
“This is about making sure the biggest events coming to Atlanta happen with us and not to us,” Mayor Dickens said during remarks at the expo.
Partners Supporting Workforce Development
Several community partners joined the event to help residents prepare for employment opportunities, including organizations that focus on job training and economic mobility.
Partners participating in the expo include:
- Goodwill of North Georgia
- Atlanta Center for Self-Sufficiency
- Chil Studios
Together with city departments and event organizers, these partners are working to ensure residents can benefit from Atlanta’s growing event economy.
The Workforce Expo is part of the broader Showcase Atlanta initiative, which helps prepare local workers and small businesses to participate in the economic opportunities created by major events hosted in the city.
Preparing Atlanta for Global Events
Atlanta is expected to welcome millions of visitors in the coming years as it hosts major international events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
City leaders say initiatives like the Workforce Expo ensure Atlanta residents are prepared to take part in the economic impact those events bring.
“This is just one part of our work to make Atlanta a city of opportunity for all,” Mayor Dickens said.
