As Atlanta prepares to welcome the world for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the City is also strengthening efforts to protect the people who call Atlanta home.
The Mayor’s Office of Violence Reduction is hosting a series of free Human Trafficking Awareness Trainings across the city in the months leading up to the tournament. These two-hour interactive sessions are designed to help residents understand how trafficking operates, identify warning signs, and respond safely.
This is proactive prevention work — before the global spotlight arrives.
Why This Matters for Residents
Major global events bring visitors, economic opportunity, and international attention. They can also create environments where vulnerable individuals are at greater risk of exploitation.
Human trafficking often operates in silence. Increasing community awareness disrupts that silence.
Participants in the training will learn how to:
- Understand common trafficking tactics
- Recognize indicators of exploitation
- Respond safely and appropriately
- Connect individuals to survivor support services
- Report suspected trafficking through proper channels
The goal is simple: equip everyday residents with knowledge and confidence so that more people know what to look for and how to act.
Led by Trusted Community Experts
Each session will be facilitated by experts from Wellspring Living and Tapestri, organizations with deep experience supporting survivors and educating communities.
The trainings are interactive and practical. Whether you work in hospitality, transportation, retail, youth services, or simply want to be informed, the sessions are designed to meet residents where they are.
Citywide Training Schedule
Trainings will take place in Southwest, Southeast, Northeast, and Northwest Atlanta beginning February 21, 2026, and continuing through June 2026.
