Meet Atlanta’s Independent Creatives
Atlanta’s independent designers, artists and entrepreneurs are stepping into the spotlight with Independent, a new digital talk series produced by the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) and Atlanta Fashion Week (ATLFW).
Launching in September on OCA’s For the Culture podcast platform, the series will feature candid, behind the scenes conversations with designers from ATLFW’s 2025 lineup and other creative trailblazers who are redefining Atlanta’s fashion scene.
Why Atlanta’s Style Story Matters
Atlanta has always been a city of makers and innovators, from music to film and now fashion. Independent celebrates that energy by amplifying the voices driving the city’s growing reputation as a hub for culture and creativity.
“Atlanta is a city of makers, dreamers and doers, a place where independent creatives are redefining what is possible,” said Adriane Jefferson, Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs.
Angela Watts, Founder of Atlanta Fashion Week, added, “Independent is more than a content series. It is a movement. We’re showing the world why Atlanta is the place to watch in fashion and culture.”
Behind the Seams: The Independent Series
Each episode of Independent will pull back the curtain on the artistry, hustle and cultural impact of independent brands. Listeners will hear directly from the designers building their careers from the ground up, blending style, business savvy and Atlanta pride.
The limited series will premiere just ahead of Atlanta Fashion Week’s October 2–5, 2025 runways, giving audiences an insider’s preview of the designers and brands hitting the stage this year.
