City Employees Champion Equity Across Atlanta Through Equity Ambassador Certification

City employees across departments are stepping up as Equity Ambassadorsโ€”working together to build a more inclusive Atlanta, one action at a time.

This summer, a new group of City of Atlanta employees took their commitment to public service one step furtherโ€”by becoming certified Equity Ambassadors.

Led by the Mayorโ€™s Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (MOEDI), the Equity Ambassador Program gives employees practical tools to recognize inequities in government systems, build more inclusive workplaces, and help shape a city where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

This yearโ€™s cohort was recognized at a special ceremony at City Hall, where leaders, peers, and proud colleagues gathered to celebrate their work. These ambassadors come from all across City government, but theyโ€™re united by one thing: a passion for making Atlanta more equitable for all.

    Whatโ€™s next?
The journey doesnโ€™t stop at certification. This fall, MOEDI will launch a Community of Practiceโ€”bringing together the 2024 and 2025 cohorts to continue learning and problem-solving together. These sessions will offer space to:

    • Explore how equity shows up in our everyday work
    • Share ideas and challenges
    • Collaborate on solutions to make our workplaces and neighborhoods more inclusive

Itโ€™s all about keeping the momentum goingโ€”and staying connected to a network of changemakers across the city.
