A Canvas of Collaboration

Last Friday, the Keep Atlanta Beautiful Commission (KABC), Keep America Beautiful (KAB), and nearly 60 AT&T employee volunteers came together along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW to transform a 50-foot wall into a colorful work of art celebrating Atlanta’s creativity, culture, and unity.

This collaborative paint-by-number mural, featuring three distinct scenes, is part of a citywide beautification effort that aligns with Mayor Andre Dickens’ Moving Atlanta Forward agenda as Atlanta prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

What started as a simple stretch of concrete is now a vibrant testament to what’s possible when communities, corporations, and civic organizations collaborate for the good of the city.

“We want to showcase Atlanta in its best light,” said Camille Russell Love, City of Atlanta Senior Advisor for Cultural Events. “We also want to leave an art legacy as a result of the World Cup—as we have done with the Super Bowl and the Olympics.”

Investing in Atlanta’s Future

The mural is one of several beautification projects taking shape across Atlanta ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. As one of the tournament’s host cities, Atlanta is expected to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the globe—and the city’s appearance will play a key role in how that experience is remembered.

The initiative supports Mayor Dickens’ “City Built for the Future” pillar, emphasizing smart investments in infrastructure and beautification that uplift neighborhoods while preparing for a global stage.

Located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, the mural’s placement is especially meaningful. The historic corridor—rich with cultural landmarks and community legacy—represents both Atlanta’s past and its promise for the future. Through the work of KABC and its partners, residents are reminded that progress can both honor and elevate heritage.

Building Community Through Art

For Keep America Beautiful, this project reinforces its mission to promote cleaner, greener, and more connected communities nationwide. Locally, KABC coordinated volunteers, sourced materials, and ensured that the mural design reflected the vibrancy of the neighborhoods it represents.

“We understand the importance of investing in communities where we all live and work,” said Asia Carter, AT&T’s Community Engagement Lead. “We want to have those spaces as beautiful spaces as we drive by into the office or as community members pass by—this being a piece of art they can remember that they invested in to help beautify this community.”

The involvement of AT&T employees added another layer of impact. Corporate partners like AT&T provide both resources and manpower, strengthening the efforts of local governments and nonprofits to deliver results that benefit all Atlantans.

Together, these efforts not only enhance the city’s appearance but also foster civic pride—reminding everyone that when art, community, and collaboration come together, Atlanta shines brightest.
