Travelers flying out of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) now have a new, affordable way to reach Mexico. On Friday, October 16, Mayor Andre Dickens joined airport leaders and Volaris Airlines to celebrate the launch of new nonstop service between Atlanta and Guadalajara, Mexico.

The inaugural flight arrived to a water cannon salute, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at ATL’s International Terminal. The celebration marked another major milestone for the world’s busiest airport as it continues expanding international travel options.

What This Means for Travelers

Volaris, an ultra-low-cost airline, is bringing more choices to Atlanta travelers, particularly families looking for affordable ways to visit loved ones or explore new destinations.

The new service offers:

  • Nonstop flights to Guadalajara, one of Mexico’s major cultural and economic centers.
  • More affordable travel options through an ultra-low-cost airline.
  • Connections to more than 60 additional destinations through Guadalajara, expanding access across Mexico.
  • More opportunities for business and tourism between Atlanta and western Mexico.

Atlanta is now the 35th U.S. airport served by Volaris.

Strengthening Atlanta’s Global Connections

Mayor Dickens welcomed the airline’s investment in Atlanta, highlighting how international air service supports families, businesses and economic growth.

The new route also strengthens connections between two major economic centers. Guadalajara is known for its manufacturing, technology and logistics industries, sectors that are also important to Atlanta’s economy.

For leisure travelers, the city offers art, architecture, food and access to destinations such as the nearby town of Tequila.

More Connections, More Opportunities

The launch reflects continued efforts by the City of Atlanta and Hartsfield-Jackson’s leadership to expand international service and make Atlanta more accessible to the world.

With Volaris now serving Atlanta, travelers have another option for reaching Mexico, while the airport continues building partnerships that support tourism, business and global connectivity.
