Homeownership opportunities are growing for Atlanta residents through a new mortgage assistance program from Invest Atlanta and Atlanta Beltline, Inc.
The BeltLine Mortgage Assistance Program provides financial assistance to eligible homebuyers purchasing homes within the BeltLine Tax Allocation District (TAD) on Atlanta’s south and west sides. The program is designed to help more residents achieve homeownership while supporting legacy residents and public servants who want to live in the communities they serve.
The program launches with $1.5 million in funding from Atlanta Beltline, Inc., with additional funding anticipated in the future.
How the program works
Eligible applicants may receive assistance for:
- Down payments
- Closing costs
- Permanent interest rate buydowns
- Principal reduction
- Or a combination of eligible home purchase expenses
Qualified legacy residents and public servants may receive up to $30,000 in assistance. Other eligible homebuyers may qualify for up to $20,000.
Who is eligible?
In addition to meeting program requirements, applicants must:
- Have a minimum credit score of 620
- Meet household income limits up to 140% of Area Median Income (120% for land trust transactions)
- Complete a HUD-approved homebuyer education course
Eligible buyers may purchase single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums, and two- to four-unit properties using qualifying FHA, VA or conventional 30-year fixed-rate loans.
