Registration is officially open for the City of Atlanta’s 2026 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), giving young residents the opportunity to earn money, gain experience, and explore careers this summer.

SYEP connects Atlanta youth with real-world job placements across industries like technology, healthcare, hospitality, government, and the arts. Participants work for at least four weeks at $15 per hour while building skills that support long-term success.

Last year alone, nearly 6,000 young people participated in the program—and at least 38 young adults transitioned from summer placements into permanent career opportunities, showing the program’s lasting impact.

A Summer Job That Builds Futures

SYEP is more than a summer job. It helps young people:

  • Build workplace confidence
  • Learn professional skills
  • Explore career pathways
  • Connect with mentors
  • Gain financial literacy

The program also strengthens neighborhoods by expanding access to opportunity for Atlanta’s next generation.

Youth Ages 14–24 Are Encouraged to Apply

Atlanta residents between 14 and 24 years old can participate.

Placements begin in June and typically last 4–6 weeks, with some opportunities extending beyond the summer.

Selected participants receive:

  • Paid work experience
  • Career exposure in growing industries
  • Mentorship from supervisors
  • Workplace readiness training

Spots are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Employers Can Help Shape Atlanta’s Future Workforce

Local businesses and organizations are also invited to participate as host employers.

SYEP connects employers with motivated young people ready to contribute to teams across the city. Hosting a participant helps grow Atlanta’s talent pipeline while supporting the next generation of leaders.

Atlanta’s young talent is ready.
