Atlanta’s growing technology and innovation scene has a new addition.
Rivian officially opened its East Coast headquarters Tuesday, Aug. 4, in the Krog District, bringing the electric vehicle company to one of Atlanta’s busiest mixed-use and innovation corridors.
Mayor Andre Dickens joined Gov. Brian Kemp, First Lady Marty Kemp, Rivian leaders, Atlanta City Council members and other state and local partners for the grand opening. About 200 government and private-sector guests attended the event.
“Rivian’s decision to establish its East Coast headquarters here shows that companies working on the future of transportation see a future in Atlanta too,” Mayor Dickens said.
A New Home in the Krog District
Rivian’s new headquarters is located at 667 Auburn Ave. SE, near the Atlanta Beltline.
The Mayor pointed to Atlanta’s colleges and universities, research institutions, corporate innovation centers and growing technology ecosystem as reasons the city continues to attract companies focused on what’s next.
The location also puts Rivian in the middle of a district where startups, established companies, restaurants, housing and public spaces come together.
Mayor Dickens recently got an up-close look at Rivian’s R2 when the company brought the vehicle to Atlanta City Hall. An engineer himself — and often called Atlanta’s “Tech Mayor” — Dickens said the visit gave him a chance to learn more about Rivian’s technology and where the company is headed.
Investing in Atlanta and Georgia
The Mayor also highlighted the partnership between the City, state leaders and the private sector in attracting investment and creating opportunities.
“We say all the time that Atlanta is a group project, and so is our entire state,” Dickens said.
Rivian’s new East Coast headquarters adds another major company to Atlanta’s innovation landscape as the city works to attract investment, strengthen its technology sector and create more opportunities for the next generation.
