A familiar Southwest Atlanta landmark has a new purpose.
The former Oakland City Flea Market at 1149 Lee Street SW has been transformed into Shifting Energy – Thee Complex on Lee, bringing new opportunities for shopping, entertainment and community gatherings to the neighborhood.
Mayor Andre Dickens joined entrepreneur and developer Stefaniyemiya Ingram on Saturday, October 24, to celebrate the grand opening.
The renovated property includes:
- Shifting Energy Live! — a 20,000-square-foot event space designed for performances, private events and community gatherings.
- Shifting Energy Eclectic Collectibles — a 5,000-square-foot boutique featuring antiques, art and collectibles.
For longtime residents, the property carries special memories. The Oakland City Flea Market was once a neighborhood gathering place where shoppers connected with local vendors and small businesses.
Ingram purchased the property in 2017 and spent years working to bring it back to life, navigating construction challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic along the way.
The opening also celebrates 25 years of Shifting Energy Eclectic Collectibles, which Ingram first established on Cascade Road in 2000.
Beyond her businesses, Ingram has supported Atlanta artists, entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations. She also owns Thee Historic House on Avon, widely known as “Madea’s House.”
The new complex represents another investment in Southwest Atlanta, bringing activity back to a historic property while creating space for local culture, commerce and community connections.
