More than $161,000 is headed to the Mayor’s Youth Scholarship Program following this year’s Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament.
The annual tournament brought 130 golfers to Chastain Park Golf Course on Wednesday, Sept. 23, to raise money for Atlanta students continuing their education after high school.
This year’s total: $161,518.
Supporting Atlanta Students
More than 150 students are receiving support through the Mayor’s Youth Scholarship Program this school year while attending 50 universities.
More than $500,000 has been awarded through the program this semester. Since Mayor Andre Dickens took office, more than $2.5 million has been awarded through MYSP.
“What we’re doing here really makes a difference,” Mayor Dickens told golfers before they headed onto the course.
A Team Effort
About 230 people attended this year’s Mayor’s Cup, including golfers, community leaders, City employees and MYSP scholars.
Delta Air Lines served as the tournament’s sole Master’s Level sponsor, while Hudson/Avolta was the Ace Sponsor. Birdie sponsors included Centennial Yards, AFRCA, Russell, SJAC Food Groups, Digital Realty and Concessions International.
The tournament is one of the ways the City raises money each year for the Mayor’s Youth Scholarship Program, helping more Atlanta students cover the cost of continuing their education.
